I hate British Telecom
May. 19th, 2005 05:14 pmI've decided that I hate BT. Their charges are ridiculously high. (Their staff are okay. I spoke to a helpful guy in India who helped me figure out an ambigous part of the bill)
Actually, the main reason I hate them is because they discontinued cheap rate phone calls between 6am and 8am which is when I used to connect to my e-mail in the morning. Needless to say, they didn't publicise this.
I heard about it on the grapevine and used the computers down the library for a month or so. Then, other things got on my mind and I forgot why I'd been using the library (apart from convenience in the daytime) and went back to looking a
t LJ first thing in the morning.
Looking at their web site yesterday evening in an attempt to cut down on my phone bills, I discovered the bit about the cheap rate changes down at the bottom of a page.
Fortunately, they're coming tomorrow to disconnect the Home Highway; if all goes well, we should have broadband from Demon shortly after that and our costs will be sliced at a stroke.
I've also signed up with 1899 and call18866 which are cheaper than BT's minimum call charge and have no per minute charges (apart from a charge of .5p per min to America).
I think I may call
grumpoldusenaut or
scarlatti this evening to celebrate.
