Waiting for the phone to ring

Sometime today or tomorrow the phone will ring and that will be the end.

Rosalie sleeps most of the time now. She still recognises people, but she hasn't the strength to say more than a word or two. My mum and one of my sisters slept in her room in the hospice last night.

I jump every time the phone rings, but so far it's always been for someone else.
