CHECK YOUR DRIVING LICENCE
Mar. 9th, 2024 11:01 amI managed some running today (it's about two months since I broke the ankle.)
2/3 jogging and 1/3 walking. Did it by counting lampposts. Pass one walking, pass two jogging. Hopefully, it won't be long before I can jog the whole route. It isn't massively long, but it's probably about half an hour if you walk it. But it's a pleasant path with trees and a good surface underfoot.
I think the main limiting factor is actually getting out of breath. Even with regular swimming, three times a week, I seem to be a bit short of puff. I think that will sort itself out, though.
Yesterday, I cycled into Broadstone (ankle ached a bit afterwards, but not enough to prevent me doing it again) to renew my driving licence.
Apparently the government have ceased sending out reminders to people to renew their licence when it runs out, and mine had gone two years overdue without me noticing. So, I went to the post office to sort it out (you have to pay around £20, but the official web site after asking for my passport number, AND my NI number, AND my driving licence number, told me it couldn't identify me). The post office staff were very helpful and only needed my old driving licence.
It's lucky that my solicitor spotted the outdated licence, when I scanned it as identity for a legal document I need.
Just figure what will happen if you're in an accident with an expired licence....
FUCKING GOVERNEMNT 'EFFICIENCIES' !
Also - I'm told (by my solicitor, who apparently ended up paying a fine becuase of it), that you may no longer be told when your car tax needs renewing. (The government web site says they'll take a direct debit, but there are clearly cases where this may not be ideal)
