Xmas

It's going to be a very odd Christmas.

We'd already decided that my son and his fiancee would stay away for sensible Covid reasons even before the government tightened up.

What we hadn't reckoned with was my daughter-in-law needing a Covid test (she's certainly got something, and I can't afford a fever and bad cough even if it turns out not to be Covid).

Because the test hasn't come back, my daughter (her wife) can't come here either as she has to isolate.

And we're left holding the six year old (because she was with us when they sent off for the test on Tuesday and has stayed with us since then)

Oswin has been remarkably understanding about spending Xmas with just Granny and Grandad, and we'll see all the family via Zoom, but it's still going to be the quietest Christmas I've ever known.

Grandad has just told me he's got a cough... (But not a very bad one)

So, I'm probably going to end up getting whatever it is, fingers crossed.  (Coughs are very bad for me, as they can really hit my throat, and then my voice goes.  And when my voice goes, it really goes....)

Ah, well.  Let's look on the bright side.  The Christmas stocking was smuggled over here (without any close contact) and she has some presents to open - and she'll have more when she eventually goes home.

The food is nearly all prepared - but I think we're going to be eating it up for longer than usual.

And I haven't caught the bug - yet.
