Climate news
Sep. 1st, 2006 10:01 amThe good news is that people are starting to take action. I normally think actors going into politics is a terrible idea, but California is actually setting serious targets for CO2 reduction.

The bad news is that the targets are needed more urgently than ever as the research increasingly suggests that climate change is going to kick in harder and faster than we thought.

If you want to calculate your own carbon cost, do it here http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article1223131.ece
If you want to know how to reduce your carbon emissions try this page http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/take_action/12_steps
though it omits the value of reducing meat consumption - which can be surprisingly large. (and taking in a lodger makes an amazing difference if you have a single occupancy house)
(and 'green' electricity is not actually totally carbon-neutral)
