My favourite kind of phone call

GCSE results out today.

Just got a really happy call from the mother of one of my pupils who got a B in maths.

Lovely lad. Hadn't managed to follow algebra at school, but did just fine when we went back to basics and built it up in steps. He worked really hard and I'm so pleased for him.

I'm smiling all over my face!

I gave blood today

I gave blood for the first time ever, today. Pretty painless. I don't even feel as tired as I expected to do, although I'm taking it easy to be on the safe side.

The lady next to me has done it 52 times. I may have some time before I get anywhere near that kind of total.
