Oddly enough (given other things in my life at present), I've been feeling happily positive today.

I've volunteered to help set up a new branch of the Watch Club. The Watch Club is a wildlife-oriented children's club. I love kids, I love wildlife. The two go hand in hand. One of the things I really enjoy when I'm working is talkin
g to the children. Their interest in everything from the life-cycles of dragonflies to the things that live in rock pools is a joy.

I'll be talking to a lady from the Dorset Wildlife Trust next week to learn more about what's involved in running a Watch Club. I've already taken the first steps - grin. I've phoned a friend who is studying with an aim to working with
wildlife and roped him in. I've also phoned the daughter out-law who loves kids and is very keen on spiders. She's also potentially interested in helping. I shall work on husband and sons, but husband and eldest son are often working w
eekends (the Watch Clubs always meet on Saturdays or Sundays) and youngest son has A-levels coming up.

For [livejournal.com profile] reapermum, because she asked.

How to tell a house martin from a swallow. Take a look at these brilliant pages from the RSPB which even have sound and video clips.
