I'm back from the library now. When it's busy, you can only have an hour on the
computer. I really ought to go there in the morning as there's only competition
for the machines when the kids come home from school and all want to play games.

In theory, I can do the job just as well at home, but at home I have to do the
research on one machine and the actual writing on another (as I need to submit
this as a Word file and the machine connected to the net during the day is not a
PC). Besides the library has broadband.

However, the main reason is that I can relax there. It's a completely different
place with no family associations. I can forget Rosalie for the hour that I'm
there focusing on work. I've managed to get Brock and MacDonell as far as
breaking orders and going to attack General Hull who had taken a town on the
Canadian side of the border. (I suspect Canadian history would have been very
different if Brock had done as he was told. He's a cultural hero for good
reason.) The story thread was clear for an hour - a pattern of requests to take
action all being turned down over the space of a couple of months, before Brock
finally takes things into his own hands.

Now, the pattern has faded again. I've got a POV shift to cope with in that I
need to mention the capture of an island to the north, but no obvious way for
my heroes to know that the enemy knows they've lost this strategic point. Ah
well, maybe it'll work out on Monday.

Saturday, I'm off to Reading. After a quick family shuffle, I'm going on
Saturday and my sister up north is going slightly later in the week. Sunday is
rhododendron bashing. I won't get much done in my current frame of mind, but
the rhododendron group impose no pressure. Everyone works entirely at their own
pace. Brownsea island can be relaxing in its own right - I'm still hoping to
see a water vole there. I know they are on the island, but they're very shy and
secretive.

[livejournal.com profile] predatrix has given me her mobile number with strict instructions to
give her a ring if I need to on Saturday.

Anyone who followed the photo link in an earlier posting and was confused,
that's because the part of the message after the link failed to upload for some
reason.

The picture is of three people. Left to right: Rosalie, my son Kelvin (her
nephew) and Gillian (Rosalie's twin). All three had long-hair/pony-tails at the
time and were wearing similar style jackets. We were out for the day and they
kept swopping hair bands and jackets to see who they could confuse.

As you can see, the family resemblence is very strong. We call it the 'triplet'
photo. It was taken about three years ago, when Rosalie was just pregnant with
her first baby.

It's a particularly good memory and one I want to hang onto.
