Freecycle

Just Freecycled a Jerusalem artichoke and some chicken wire.

Turned out it was the same person who wanted most, which made collection easy as they were both at the allotment.  Discovered she was the niece of a friend of mine, which was a nice bonus.

I've met a lot of very pleasant people via Freecycle.

I've met a lot of very rude people with well-developed senses of entitlement, but then I run the local 2,500 member group and get all the complaints. I'm in an area where people aren't keen on reading the guidelines.

Is there a case for splitting it into a couple of smaller groups?

Not really, because people would try to join several anyway.

Youngstown and Boardman are essentially the same town, and we'd have a hell of a time enforcing that, and we're the closest group for most of the surrounding rural area.

Youngstown is the city, and while it's got smaller townships surrounding it, they're not far enough away to have distinct identities of their own, if you see what I mean. It's not THAT big a city. "Liberty" is just another part of town rather than a different town.

I don't know, maybe splitting it would be the way to go, except I don't know how we'd do it. If we split it north/south, one group would be rich and one group would be poor and inner city.

If there's not a distinct identity, then you're probably right. Pity. I think people behave slightly better when they identify as a community.

There again, I had an Offer post rejected and had to repost it because I put down the location as "Portsmouth" which was apparently unacceptable and, instead, had to put "Southsea" which was ok.

Portsea island (on which Portsmouth sits) is about five miles long and three miles wide at the most...!
