Nat West

I don't know how they rate on other fronts, but I do know that NatWest have the most helpful phone system of any bank I know.  No call centres, just real people at an actual bank.

I have the number of the branch that the Redemption account is with.   I phone them, and a really friendly, helpful person on the other end of the phone helps me to do exactly what I wanted, with the minimum of fuss.  Here's to the staff at NatWest, Winton!

Thats very good - we can get through (via call centre) to our branch of the Clydesdale and mine of the Yorkshire Bank. lloyds, who we used to be with are a bit rubbish though - usually an overseas call centre.

I've generally found NatWest's staff to be very helpful but some of their procedures and systems to be very unhelpful (for example, changing the branch at which an account is held automatically closes your account and opens another one, which left me without any cash or access to accounts for a weekend once, and they seem to be more dependent on fill-in-a-form-and-send-it-to-head-office than some banks which have a more comprehensive computer system). My account with them worked for me until I moved house and changed jobs, meaning that I couldn't get into 'my' branch as easily.

Ringing the branch direct is great, but at busy times (i.e. any time I'm likely to be ringing) you get redirected to a central call centre anyway.
