My friends page is too wide

My friends page was displaying too wide this morning, I had to scroll sideways to be able to read it.

It turns out that the cause is one of my friends (I won't say who) posted an entry with a very long link to another page.

I'm told that if you use a link tag (see page below) then this problem will not arise.

You're updating LJ using a method which doesn't allow standard HTML hyperlink coding? Ugh.

If you change your style to "generator", or one of the others that puts each entry into its own box, then it's only the one rogue entry that you have to scroll sideways for -- all the other entries remain at a sensible width.

I was using Sinfest as an example of a *narrow box*... For some reason, I get the link, while you get the whole thing. I don't know why that is.

This has all the entries in reasonably narrow boxes (I'll only get public entries on your friends page, if there's a friends-only entry I won't get it on this page, which may affect how things are, but all the entries are their standard width).

This has all the entries except for one in boxes which are just the right width for Sinfest. Oddly there's exactly one which is as narrow as they all were on the other page -- a post from vatoengland near the bottom of the page, entitled "Silverlock".

I get identical behaviour in IE 7.0 and Firefox 2.0.

No idea why you're not getting the whole of Sinfest.

Scratches head. I'm using Firefox, but we're not seeing the same things. I'm seeing a border around each posting and the borders are all the same width, except when a post is really small, when the box enclosed by the border is also small.


I think I'm going to play around with 'generator' and see what the page looks like with that.
