New Orleans
I have a memory that always makes connections by songs. It's just the way it works.
Today, simply by acknowledging the tunes running through my head ('Battle of New Orleans', 'House of the Rising Sun' and 'And I fell in love with a Creole girl, by the lakes of Pontchartrain') I know what is on my mind.
For me, it's a tragedy on many levels. I said to a friend a few months ago (he was a global warming skeptic) that the easiest prediction to make was that hurricanes would get worse (not more frequent, but more damaging) as their strength is directly related to ocean-surface temperatures.
BEing right is no fun.

Well, I'm not sure I believe the smaller number bit, but you certainly recalled right.

Of course the world is coming apart at the seams - but if we all start to doom & gloom it only makes it worse. Every positive thought is a chance to hold the pieces together & posibly mend the remains after the shift happens - if no tin our life times then in our childrens' or grandchildrens'. I just wish PEOPLE would not be so crap - not just a problem BEing right but a case of shooting the messenger - or do most people just live like ostriches?
