Cairncross Breakfast Club

Wow, that got a lot more interested parties than I expected. I hadn't anticipated [livejournal.com profile] alexmc putting a link in his journal. (Alex, you'd better link to this one as well, for those who don't normally read my journal)

OK, here's how it's going to work...

All those who haven't yet given me a mobile phone number, please do so. I can't tell you where the kitchen is if I can't contact you.

Everyone make sure you tell me what mornings you will be there.

[livejournal.com profile] elmyra is nominated to bring fruit salad and baked beans.

[livejournal.com profile] julesjones is volunteered to bring breakfast cereal - cornflakes

[livejournal.com profile] sugoll bread and things to go on toast

[livejournal.com profile] fifitrix milk and eggs (you've got a car, so you get the breakables)

[livejournal.com profile] alexmc tea, coffee, + herbal/fruit tea if you have any

Alex Holding - any cereal except cornflakes and some bread

[livejournal.com profile] watervole bacon and fruit juice

[livejournal.com profile] exalted_mugwump porridge oats and tomatoes

Some people have been missed out/duplicated. This is partly due to the days when I know people are arriving. I'm expecting the later arrivals to aid in restocking.

I fully expect us to run out of most items and some like milk will certainly need replacing most days.

I'm gong to operate a food-needed list on the fridge door. When something runs out, or is very low, add it to the list. If you haven't bought anything recently, sign your name next to it and buy it and stick it in the fridge for next morning. If you think you can't get to a shop, slip some money to someone else and ask them to buy it for you.

(I'm assuming there must be a shop somewhere close by, this is a student residence after all)

It's an honesty system and I'm not going to be keeping a close watch. I'm pretty trusting as a rule and I think people will probably buy enough to keep us all going.

I think we'll have some fun mornings. Looking forward to seeing you all for a nice social breakfast!

I'm expecting everyone to pitch in with washing up. Don't leave it all for the late-risers.

(I'm told that all crockery, cutlery and pans are provided. If you're paranoid, feel free to bring items of your own.)

I don't know about access to the buildings. My mobile is 07759 784901 if anyone hits problems on this score. I'll try and find someone with a computer to help me update this LJ with any relevent info once I'm there.

Eggs and Milk it is then - how many should I cater for?
Will 24 eggs and 8 pints of semi-skimmed be a good enough start?
Does anyone prefer skimmed or fullfat milk - cos I can easily pick up a quantity of those aswell.

I read on the hotel blurb last night that they DON'T provide crockery or cutlery or pans. Did I read it wrong? I was planning on putting a few things in the car...

Sounds good. I'd make one pint of that fullfat and one semi, then we've got all tasts covered.

I need your mobile number.

Will you be there Thursday morning?

Alex Holden here. I'm still anonymous because I can't be bothered to join LiveJournal just to discuss Interaction.

I've stayed in self catering accommodation that didn't supply everything they claimed they would in the past, so I'll be bringing my own cutlery, crockery, etc. just in case. I prefer to call it "being prepared" rather than "paranoid" :) If you've ever arrived somewhere late at night, tired and hungry, and had to hacksaw the lid off a tin of soup and drink it straight out of the tin, you'll know what I mean :)

I'm arriving around midday on Thursday, so I'll track down a shop after I get there and buy the cereal and bread in time for Friday morning.
