I love the Bulwer-Lytton contest. For those who don't know, the idea is to write the worst possible opening sentence for a novel.

I think it goes to show how our respective tastes in humour differ, because I didn't find them all that amusing. If they had been explicit parodies of particular works or genres, I might have been more impressed, but they just seemed to be bad for bad's sake.
