Cairncross breakfast club - Worldcon
There's several of us staying at Cairncross, therefore this is the inaugural posting of the proposed Cairncross breakfast club. [Unknown site tag]
It seems to make good sense to get a really solid breakfast before venturing out into the wilds of Worldcon and snack food grabbed hastily between panels.
Therefore, I'm suggesting that interested parties tell me what mornings they will want breakfast at Cairncross and we'll try and do the whole breakfast menu between us.
I reckon a good con breakfast should have cereal, fruit and a fry up (or possibly boiled eggs instead of fried) and maybe toast. Tea/coffee/fruit juice are also options.
So, if we have one person looking after each department, then we should be able to feed us all pretty well.
I'll volunteer along with Henry to do the eggs/bacon/black pudding/grilled tomatoes part of things.
Who wants to do fruit/fruit salad?
Who wants to do toast/marmalade/jam?
Who wants to do beverages/cereal?
I'm there in the mornings from the 4th to the 9th.
I normally expect to be up and eating by 8am (though this might lag a bit later on in the con)
I'd suggest that we aim for 8am in whichever kitchen I'm staying in for the 4th and decide the time for the next morning after we've eaten each day.
I'll need a mobile phone number so I can tell you what my address is at Cairncross.
Here's looking forward to good company at breakfast!

I'm definitely no more than a maybe as I really need to get an idea of travel time between the venues and peering at the maps hasn't given me that. Sorry I can't be any more committal.

Count me in
(Anonymous) 2005-07-30 09:53 am (UTC)(link)Just to confuse everybody, I'm also a bearded techie called Alex. See http://www.alexholden.net/
Let me know if you want me to bring extra cooking implements/crockery/ingredients etc., but my carrying capacity is limited because I'm coming up on the train. I don't mind helping out with toast, cereal, beverages, fried food, etc. but I don't do fruit salad (much too healthy for me).

Would it be possible to have the breakfast at the same kitchen every morning? And is it possible to access the kitchen later, since I'm pretty sure the 8 am breakfast call is a bit too early for us. :) Most of us are vegeatarians and would not eat fried stuff anyway, so it would be easy for us just to come over for a cup of coffee, toast and porridge & clean up after ourselves. Stocking all food stuff in one kitchen would make this easy, but what do you think? Or is it even possible to access a kitchen "unsupervised" if staying in another part of the building?
My mobile is +358-40-5418683 (sms messages ok) and I can forward the information to our group.

I'm arriving on the 3rd as well.
What a fantastic idea!
I'll happily be in charge of the fruit salad. And possibly also add baked beans to your fry-up. Mobile is 07947 244107 and my name's Mili - as we'll only be there from the night of the 4th, can you plesae give me call/text once you know where all this would be?
