Richard

Richard's ill, which is scary. He never gets ill. This is the man who boasts that he hasn't seen the doctor in a decade. He's in bed with a raging temperature - I don't have a thermometer, I just know that he's hot to the touch all over and still says he feels cold.

I'm not calling out a doctor that late at night. That's for mega serious emergencies. Fevers are scary, but not fatal as a rule. It's the body's prime defence mechanism against infection. The heat tends to kill the virus/bacteria. I think it's often a mistake to fight the symptom rather than recognising it for what it is.

He's looking a lot better this morning. Very weak, but the fever seems to have broken.

I think it's probably a case of fluids and tlc from now on, and start feeding him when he feels hungry.

Up and around, but definitely wobbly on his feet. Around mostly means watching TV, but that's a distinct improvement on yesterday. I've been feeding him nibbles and he's on the mend. It was still pretty scary though.

I think we'll be okay to go to his mother's on Sunday for her birthday.
