Helpful phoneline!

The most helpful phoneline I've encountered in the last few days is a lady at BT (which almost, but not quite makes me regret moving most of my business away from them).

I got through quickly this morning and mentioned a problem relating to my direct debits. Instead of transferring me, she followed the problem through herself and got straight back to me with the reply from the other department.

The only other helpful phoneline I've found recently is CGP (they supply revision guides). They're always quick to reply to the phone, always have nice-sounding people on the phone line and are always helpful. (They employ local people in the Lake District and are pro-active in supporting the local economy. They even bought the local petrol station when it was about to close down)

Actually, I'll add Lakeland (the kitchenware people) to my helpful list. They're also really good on the phone. Friendly voices help you with your order and can often tell you more information about items if you have a query. (I think many of their staff have been with them a long time and use the products themselves)

Hm. Maybe if you want good phone line operators, you should set up a business in the Lake District and take good care of your staff.

Hmmm. THinking about this, I'd say that my ISP, Westnet, has a good phoneline help. Then again their slogan is "Service is what sets us apart" (or something like that).
