Wedding Anniversary and party

On 12 July this year, Richard and I will have been married for 25 years.

To celebrate our Silver Wedding, we'd like to throw a party. You're all invited. (We figure that if you're interested enough to read these ramblings, then you're probably someone whose company we'd enjoy)

As we live in Dorset, it's a bit of a way for people to travel unless they're staying overnight, so we're holding open house from Friday to Sunday (15-17 July).

Richard and I met at the University of East Anglia games society and games have been a common interest of ours ever since. Thus, we hope to do a heck of a lot of gaming over the weekend. Short games, long games, silly games, serious games, games you can learn the rules to in two minutes, games where it takes a bit longer.

We have three large cupboards full of games. Be the government of a corrupt banana republic, throw mud pies, advance civilisation, model words in playdoh, play Twister, play a game where you have to invent a new rule every turn, try Alhambra, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan, Carcasonne, Scrabble, Jenga, charades, Ker-plunk, Star Traders, Dune, and loads more. If anyone asks, we'll also get out the large box of lego and the marble helter skelter.

Come and game, gossip, eat and drink.

We have one spare bed (but you have to share the room with a teenage boy), after that, we have a fair number of sleeping bags. When the sleeping bags run out, you'll have to bring your own, or else stay in a local B+B.

The nearest railway station is Poole. There is a regular bus service from Poole to Corfe Mullen.

Let us know if you want to come, so we have an idea of how many to cater for. Give me a rough idea of nights (I won't hold you to exactly what you say) and tell me where you want to sleep.

Come rejoice with us and be merry!

It's a bit far for us. Particularly from Jersey where we'll be at the time.

There's a ferry service from Poole to Jersey, but it is still a long way.

Waa, I want to go! But, woe, America is a bit farther even than Jersey.

Hug. Would have loved to have you. I know you enjoy some of our games collection.

We have the same problem.

I'm already booked up on the Saturday all day, at Winchester and at Chippenham (where I'll be overnight). I don't know about Sunday yet.

I just saw the corresponding entry in [livejournal.com profile] redemption_con. Seeing you at a couple of cons, and the odd e-mail message, doesn't really count as knowing you. :-) But I wanted to send advance congratulations on your anniversary, and best wishes for a fun weekend.

If you think you'd enjoy it, come anyway.

Oh, I'm sorry, I hope that didn't sound like I was fishing! It wasn't meant to. Thank you, I don't think I will, but thank you, anyway.

It didn't sound in the least bit as though you were fishing. Don't worry on that score.

I meant what I said originally - and I figured you were way too shy to think I could possibly be including you in the general invitation - so I wanted to make it clear that you were welcome.

Our apologies in advance - we're running a stall for Northfield Farm in Norfolk that weekend, otherwise we'd try and make it.
Hope you have a lovely time

Just remembered I hadn't checked all my diaries for that weekend, and now I have I find I'm already committed to doing an Open Day on the Sunday of that weekend.

Hope you have a great celebration.

Might be able to make it - if it's still on....

It's definitely on. Can you both come? How old is Christine now? She's welcome as well if she's old enough to join in with reasonbly complicated games.

At the moment, it looks like we can all come - Christine is 8 now, and can play games, but much prefers computers. However, she still has a crush on Henry (tee hee hee!!!).
