Forthcoming grandchild

My son, Henry, and his wife are expecting their first child in late October. Nursery school provision in our area is booked up well in advance, so they are scouting places out now in order to have a place when they need it.

This requires filling in many forms. All of which ask for the child's name...

This was before they knew the gender of the forthcoming sprog.

So, the first box was filled in with 'Pending'.

'Pending' Proctor has now become the  nickname of my grandson to be. I suspect it may occasionally emerge even when he has an official name.

AH, CONGRATULATIONS to you and the parents! Why oh why the bureaucracy almost always created such a mess!
But I have to laugh...Pending Proctor, oh my, and yes, no wonder everyone you use it. No matter what the gender - just let the baby be healthy!

I think Pending should officially be his middle name!

I've heard of entering your child on the school rolls as a baby, but not before it is even born!

Pending Proctor sounds like a good solid 17th-century country name, suitable for the Norfolk Trained Bands...

Proctor is a good Puritan name too of course :-)
You could always take it up yourself as a nom de guerre in his honour!

Pending, indeed!
