Indeed. Dogs are indiscriminate eaters and are quite happy to eat 'vegetarian dog food'. Cats notoriously require meat (and I have seen it suggested that any cat owner who believes they have gradually weaned their cat onto a vegetarian diet is probably happily oblivious to the fact that their pet is going off and killing its own food and/or eating dinner elsewhere...)
