Dragonflies
There was one good thing today.
I saw a female broad-backed chaser laying eggs in our newly-dug garden pond.
A large heavily built dragonfly with a yellow body with black markings. (the male is totally diffent with an electric blue body)
I have a particular fondness for dragonflies; that's one of the reasons we dug (all right, Richard dug) the pond. We've also seen a four-spotted chaser and a few damselflies (I forget the species, but it was one of the many varieties of small pretty blue ones)
