 There are days when one desperately needs a lift.

 

I'm getting out my DVD of Singing in the Rain.

 

Moana, Singing in the Rain (Gene Kelly), Easter Parade (Fred Astaire and Judy Garland), The Return of Captain Invincible and a few others are my ultimate made me feel happier movies.

I am always surprised when other people refer to The Return of Captain Invincible and I'm reminded that I didn't make it up, and it wasn't a weird student show with a budget of 4p and a surprisingly good Christopher Lee imitation, but a real movie with actual Christopher Lee in it.

It's an oddly fun movie. I tend to watch it 'straight' as much as as a comedy.

I like Invincible and the way he rebuilds his life, just as much as I enjoy the orchestra pushed on backstage when the General breaks into song.
