life with coronovirus around

I'm over the virus now.   Fully back to normal apart from pain in my legs.

That's a side effect of not having any exercise while in quarantine (and not really being up to it in any case).  With me, not getting a daily run means I get sciatica (Pain in the legs from a pinched nerve). And the sciatica makes me walk differently, which creates pain in other parts of my legs.

Fortunately, no other health problems. Thanks to Montelukast, I didn't even get an asthma attack!

I think everyone's Covid experience is different.  In our family, the symptoms were runny nose, cough, loss of appetite, and exhaustion.  None of us lost our sense of smell (and yes, two members of the family did have a positive test result).

Richard took just two days to get over it, I needed about a dozen to really feel normal again, though I was back on my feet and doing things after six or seven days.

Lindsey is back at work humping heavy bags of mail.  Her wife is still under the weather, but she has long term health problems which Covid just added to.

Oswin (age 6) had no symptoms at all.

So, looks like I've dodged the bullet on long Covid.  I'm seeing the physio this afternoon, which will hopefully sort out my leg pain and make it easier for me to get back to my morning exercise run.

Meanwhile, with the schools closed again, we're back teaching Oswin.  There's a lot more support from the school now, but we're getting problems with excessive security.  We asked for help so that we could log in on my computer so that I could print out worksheets.

A teacher contacted the school office for help and they changed Oswin's password, but owing to a crossed wire somewhere, neither the teacher nor the office have told any of the family what the new password is....

So glad to read this - or at least the part about being on the mend. I hope both your leg pain and the problems with accessing Oswin's school work resolve soon.

Glad to hear you're better and that Oswin was unaffected.

What an experience you all had. I am really relieved that you are recovering and I hope your pain in your leg will stop soon.
You are right, covid disease is very individual, I can see it here too. And your family were doing well in comparison with some other cases!
Thank you for good news. Take care!

Very pleased to hear that you are better, and I hope the leg pain gets sorted out in short order.

Glad to hear you are all through the worst. Take it easy though, if Long Covid is the same as ME (and everything I am hearing implies it is very similar) it can take a while to show up after the initial infection. I would advise you all strictly train yourselves to stop before you get tired for the next few weeks, don't push until your body starts to protest because by then it might be too late. (After 20 years of ME, I consider myself a pro at pacing).

I didn't say don't move or exercise. I just warned that you shouldn't push yourself. There is a line and you need to watch you don't cross it. Basically its about ensuring your body is in a healing state for as much of the time as possible, and in a stressed state for as little as possible. Exercise is sometimes healing and sometimes stress - think of the difference between yoga and boxing. And if you walk that line correctly for a few weeks longer then you can go back to boxing in due course. Or you could say: what the hell I want to do whatever I want immediately and f the consequences - your choice. But I've had nearly 20 years of the downside of making that choice wrong and its not something I would wish on anyone.

I'm very glad to hear that your recovery seems to have gone well, and hope that it stays that way, for all of you.
