Rituals by Roz Kaveny

I read this one from a friend's recommendation, but wasn't greatly smitten.

I liked the characters, and it's a nice change to have lesbian leads, but parts of the plot didn't work for me.  For me, the reader should have enough clues to make an intelligent guess at what is going to happen.  If the answer lies in mythology, then that's okay as a clue, but when the answer lies in mythology, but also in a twist on the mythology that the reader isn't given a clue to, then I feel a bit let down.

In this case, changes to the normal changeling myths and normal vampire myths.  The reader is made aware of some factors about individuals in both groups, but not that they might in any way be key to the mythos in the novel. (and hence, I can't see how the protagonist is able to make the deductions that she does)

However, it's very readable and if anyone would like my copy, I'm happy to post it to you.
