Allotment woes

This was going to be a post about how well the allotment is doing right now.

Unfortunately, it has now become a post about some bastard who stole most of our rhubarb (and badly damaged the plants in the process) nicked the only ripe squash and helped him/her self to all the ripe courgettes.

I hope s/he chokes on it - though given the amount of rhubarb taken, they must have been stealing to sell.

There are plots available on our site (the short term future with regard to property developers has greatly reduced the waiting list), so there is not even the excuse that the thief has nowhere to grow their own produce.

Bastard.

Arsehole! That is the lowest of the low. Nicking off allotments is scumbaggery of the highest order.

You know, one of the earliest things I can remember my parents teaching me is that you never, ever steal growing crops. Never.

As [personal profile] legionseagle said, they're scum.

That is really, really despicable. People who steal from allotments can't even be using any slim self-deception that the loss is covered by insurance, or that the loss isn't personal. They KNOW they're taking someone's personal hard work.

If it was me, I'd be tempted to put up signs in future saying 'Plants have been sprayed with poison and are unsafe to eat'. Wouldn't stop anyone intending to sell though, provided they were truly conscienceless, which they probably are.

That's so mean, after all your hard work.

Bastard indeed - I hope they get severe stomachache (though like you said, they will probably sell it).

We don't have the allotment system here (we don't have the small gardens, for a start, ours is a quarter acre on a corner) so the few things we do grow are in the back yard...

Grrrrr! I agree, bastards! I can´t stand such parasitic creatures. And they are in plenty here too...everywhere.
I am sorry, I know how much you care for your garden.
We used to have similar allotments here but they changed into fenced areas with tiny cottages and vegetable and flower and fruit plants around. Sometimes it is funny because the owners want to use their small area (4x4?) for building as tall structure as possible. The law probably doesn´t limit the hight of these. And believe me, some look silly enough!

I'm so sorry to hear that. And yes, may they choke on it!
