My sister has cancer

My beloved sister Rosalie has just been diagnosed with inoperable ovarian cancer.

She has two lovely little boys - the youngest has just learnt to crawl.

Why is this having to happen to her when she was so happy? After false starts in the past, she'd found the man who was perfect for her. They had a large untidy house where they were bringing up two of the happiest little boys I've ever known. She took to motherhood like a duck to water.

She enjoys her children. She was happy giving up work to be at home with them. They didn't have a massive income from just her partner's work, but they had enough for what they wanted.

They were happy.

I don't know what the prognosis is yet. They still need to do more tests. I don't yet know if chemo can help. The survival rate seems to depend on how early it is detected and I don't know that yet.

I have to stop crying.

I'm so sorry. I hope chemo can help. I wish I could say more. Take care, and best wishes to you and to your sister and to her family.

Oh, no...I'm so sorry! "Inoperable" is a horrible thing to hear. I hope it was detected early enough for chemo to help...

It's just not fair. :(

*hugs*

Thank you all for being here. It means more than I can easily put into words.
It was so sudden. One day Ros was feeling a bit tired and anemic, then she had trouble keeping food down. It's only been a week since she really started feeling unwell and none of us expected it to be anything serious. The doctor sent her straight to hospital and they said she had ovarian cancer.
She was still breast-feeding Toby (my littlest nephew) but he's okay on a bottle now.

Tried to phone, but it's been engaged, unsurprisingly. Will try later.

Oh Judith! {{{{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Sorry I didn't say anything before this, I haven't checked LJ in a couple of days.

I've just got to this now, catching up from the preceding Friday. Thank you for the accompanying email -- I'm trying to catch up on those, far too late, as well.

Have a hug.

Ah, I assumed you'd seen the note I left in your journal.
Forget the e-mail. Right now, all I really need is to know that people are here. [livejournal.com profile] scarlatti is looking after me, even if she doesn't realise she's doing it. And [livejournal.com profile] grumpoldusenaut and [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen even if they're both handicapped by not being able to phone me.
Thanks for the hug. I need all the hugs I can get right now.
