One of the greatest singers of all time

 I caught about five seconds of this on the radio when I came into the kitchen and instantly thought the voice was incredible.  I wasn't at all surprised when it was identified as Paul Robeson.  I only have one CD of his, but I may have to get more.  


This recording was made the year I was born.  If it wasn't for the racial prejudice that Robeson encountered all his life, he would have been a lawyer (he qualified, but couldn't get work) rather than a singer.  As a singer, he reached the ears of millions.

Yes, this is an incredible voice...
Here his most famous was Ol´Man River.
And this melody here is actually Largo from a Symphony from the New World by our great composer Antonín Dvořák...

It was Old Man River that first made me seek him out. Once heard, never forgotten.
