Morris at the Olympics

 Hurrah!

They included morris in the closing ceremony - with Eric Idle no less!

Blackheath and Rag morris, both in fine form.

(Rag are the Bristol university morris team.  They're the ones in tatter jackets and doing the hankie dance - great dancers and a fun bunch of people too)

I now have the temptation to write a dance to "Always look on the bright side of life"...

I was delighted to see them! The closing ceremony was very draggy but Eric Idle and the dancers (Romans too!) were the best bit. Why yes, I sang along.

We also laughed because Greg was so sure there'd be Morris dancers in the opening ceremony and kept saying, "Here they come! Surely now's the time!" but had to wait a couple of weeks till finally he was right. :-D

Came across them a while back. Chatted to one of them about something or other. Morris has amazing variety. BDSM morris, biker morris, morris in corsets, goth morris, pagan morris, trad morris, modern morris, lesbian morris, you name it, it seems to be out there somewhere...

Oh good! You should definitely dance to that tune. If you write a new dance for it, your dancers could whistle at the appropriate moments in the song!

Also, they are selling off one of the maypoles from the Opening Ceremony - though I have no idea whether it's functional (and is probably going to end up as the most expensive maypole in the world.)
