Petition for Financial Education

If you're British, please take a look at this petition, and if you agree with it, sign it.

It's asking for financial education - how to understand credit card agreements, bank statements, how to handle debt (and ideally avoid it), etc - to be part of the national curriculum.

To me, this makes basic sense for two reasons. One, because children need this information to survive in the modern world. Two, because it's maths that is directly relevant to their lives and this means they're more likely to be interested in learning it.

Too bad I can't vote for this--an excellent idea, and one that America needs to implement as well.

Already signed it :-)

When I were a lad, this was called 'Home Economics' - and was a much wider-ranging subject than just 'cookery'. These skills are much more useful than most of crap I was taught at school - although 'how to avoid P.E.' was invaluable! :-)

Signed.

They should teach more life skills in UK schools.
