Seeking a calendar

I've been using Google Calendar, but it's stopped working for the second time in twelve months.  It's stopped sending me my daily agenda, or any reminders at all.  Last time, I managed to fix it by unsetting and resttting my notifications, but that hasn't worked this time.

Looking on the web, I discover that lots of other people have had this problem.

Can anyone recommend a good calendar programme?

I have a large year at a glance calendar on the wall above my computer, and that serves for most things - but I do find the automatic email reminders are useful for things where I need to catch a bus on time.

I would have recommended Google Calendar, it's still working fine for me. I beleive there's a Mozilla one but you probably have to run it explicitly.

Ah - so it is a real problem. I've noticed, but haven't had time to investigate. Thanks - I'll watch this thread.

If you use Thunderbird for your emails there's a good calendar add-on called Lightning that I use, but I think that's really a one-pc solution.

I'm in the process of moving from Thunderbird to Gmail as I find Gmail easier to use.

I was going to suggest Lightning but if you are abandoning Thunderbird that is no good. I must admit I have not upgraded to Thunderbird 3 as I found that incredibly difficult to use. (Well OK, to be precise, I upgraded and then downgraded again which was a nightmare to do but I got there in the end.) I find the Gmail interface in Thunderbird 2 to be superb and so I have my main ISP account, My business email account, two Gmail accounts and Hotmail account, all accessed from Thunderbird. The only one that doesn't work properly is, of course, Hotmail so I have almost completely stopped using it. Way to go Microsoft.

Lightning (for Th2) is great and you can interface, via another addon, with your Google Calendar as well which means you can set 2 hour (or whatever) notifications and it does work whatever the Google Calendar email system is doing. The advantage of doing it this way for me is that I can also see my calendar on other PCs than my own.

I also use Google Gears to keep an offline version of my Google Calendar in case my internet connection goes down.

I use Google calendar for my agency bookings. Keeping 15 different artists updated is a nightmare without it, so I sincerely hope it's not going flaky on me. I'll check the notifications, thanks for the headsup.

Before google calendar was the Sasco wall planner. It did me proud for the best part of 25 years on the road and if I had to I could go back to it. Demon was down for the whole day today which means I coudn't update my google calendar anyway.

I have just received an email from Google Calendar. It is totally different to previous emails I have received and is from a different email address. May I suggest you check your spam folders to see if this may have something to do with the lack of notifications. It also may be worth sticking it out for a while as all these companies have problems when they first change the way they do things.

If only they would send out an email detailing the changes, and warning of possible problems during they transition, before they start messing around with things...

Nothing in my Gmail spam folder. Gmail simply stopped sending out stuff a month ago. A test message yesterday worked, but I didn't get today's agenda, so I'm stumped.
