Tivo

We were recently loaned a Tivo by a friend who currently lives in Switzerland and doesn't use it.
It's a pig to set up, but my goodness, it's handy to use once you have it up and running.
I've already sat down to listen to 'Old Harry's Game' and 'Yes Minister' (it picks up radio programmes as well as TV via the satellite). I can watch MASH at the time of day when I want, I needn't worry about failing to tape Stargate. It's already found a new programme Ricard likes just by extrapolating from his known preferences.
I've just instructed it to hold one (but only one) episode of Quantum Leap for me. I like to watch that on days when I feel knackered, but the rest of the time I'm not bothered.
I don't have to worry about missing new SF shows (I missed the first few of Battlestar Galactica as I forgot when it started) as the Tivo is already recording SF on spec for me when it has spare capacity.
I sincerely hope Mark never wants it back again!

Hmmm, interesting. Sound like just the kind of thing for me. However, it will have to go on the list after "new PC", because mine is on its last legs. And "new PC" has to go on the list after "trip to UK" because that is coming up with great rapidity, as you know.
