Walking in the snow

Snow in Dorset is like hen's teeth, but we actually had some today.  Must be, ooh, nearly an entire centimetre now.  (I can just hear the rest of you sniggering from the back seats...)

Anyway, I made the most of it by walking 20mins to my doctor's appointment, though I did use my common sense and wear hiking boots and take my walking poles. ( I'm still recovering from a bug, so didn't want to risk a fall)

I quite enjoyed it.  The only annoying bit is when the snow blows right into your face.

I suspect I might not have been so keen if it was several inches deep.

Where you live certainly defines what you think of as Snow, your centimetre would be little more than a hard frost to me in Wales while the same would be said of my 10/12 cms by those living in Scotland.

It can differ in places only 12 Miles apart, Newport falls apart and comes to a dead stop with just 2 centimetres of snow while we from the valley are still getting around with 5 times that, though not in any thing motorised I hasten to add.

It's snowing very gently here in London too. :) Happy to hear that you took advantage of it and took a nice walk!

We've got a couple of inches or so close to Birmingham. I've got a nasty bug so I haven't been out since New Year's Eve, but I suspect that other close by areas have got more than that.

When I first came to Portsmouth in 1984 I remember my landlord loftily telling us that "It never snows in Portsmouth" because we're in the "shadow" of Portsdown hill.

That winter we had about 4" in one night and I asked him if it was heavy frost...!

Last night we had about 2-3"...

An entire centimetre...no comment ;) It's all relative :D

I understand entirely. I'm in an area of So California that snows and my friends in snowy areas love chortling at me when I complain about or praise our inch or two. :)

Good for walking, and you don“t need to clean it. Take care!

Definitely agreed! (my voice is pretty croaky, so if next Sat would be better then I'm fine with that)

We really suffer down here!

(Now, when I was a lass and lived up north, we had real snow there.)

I fell over last night and almost did a few times this morning. So you're smart not to take risks.
