Gaming weekend

We've decided 23-25 January would be a good time for the next Silvercon.

Bring yourself, bring your favourite game, bring a sleeping bag, have a fun time.

If Richard's in work, then we'll feed everyone for free.

If we're both still out of work, then we'll request a £5 donation towards food costs. (Optional if you're skint too)

If you're reading this, then you're welcome. (ie. Don't think, "Do I know them well enough?" - think "Do I like games and I like being with gamers.")

Let me know if you can make it. Let me know if you want first dibs on available spare beds... Ask for address/directions if you don't know them already. (We're in Dorset. Nearest rail/coach station is Poole. Half hourly bus service from Poole to Corfe Mullen, but only during the day.)

Coo, I could get there pretty easily from Exeter. A bed would be nice, but not essential as I have an air-bed. I look forward to it.

Be good to have you with us. I think you've probably managed to bag a bunk bed (bring a sleeping bag to go on it), but check with me before you travel in case you need to bring the air bed.

I still plan to come, but realise I don't have your address. What would be a good time to arrive on Friday?

28 Diprose Rd, Corfe Mullen, Wimborne, Dorset BH21 3QY

Gaming will start when the first person arrives, so I'd expect some initial gaming around lunchtime.

Mmm.. gaming newbie is tempted..

No bed needed (conversely, might be able to offer one), but would most likely be accompanied by a toddler at least for a while, if that's ok?

Well, we managed the original ones (we used to run weekends for a postal game we ran) when our kids were about that size, so bring her along for a while and see how it goes.

I like toddlers.

I may be able to commute over for some of it, although that's the start of the week I'll be sorting out the house in Suffolk.

Fingers crossed. It was good seeing you last time.

[livejournal.com profile] topbit and I are probably going to come. YAY!

...I still have your Starcops zines and your copy of Shards of Honor. I shall bring them!

I'll look forward to seeing you both.

Many thanks for the invitation!

Sadly, I have to work that weekend. But have fun!

It's tempting...

I've often read your entries on the gaming weekends and been curious. It's a long drive and it would be very helpful if you have room to put us up as we're definitely watching the pennies these days.

[identity profile] djelibeybi-meg.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
btw, your entry borked my flist as it is five times wider than any other entry. I'm guessing it's the formatting?

Ah, probably because I tried a cut and paste from elsewhere. I'll see if I can do anything about it. It looked okay on my screen.

It would be great to see you both! We always have sleeping bag space, and if you don't mind unfolding the sofa bed each night, then you can bag the futon sofa to share (but bring sleeping bags to go on it).

Out of interest, what do you mean by "gaming"? Are we all going to be playing Kerplunk or Final Fantasy XIII on the XBox?
ext_15862: (dice)

[identity profile] watervole.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Card games, board games, a wide range of both. We have Kerplunk, monopoly, Scrabble and other ones you'll know. We also have lots of great (great defined as easy to learn rules and game typically lasting no more than an hour and involving around four players) modern games.

We have silly games, serious games, word games, tactical games, but they'll all fun to play around a table with other people.

I dont think I can make it as my weekends are pretty busy for the next few weeks. Sorry about that. Have an excellent time.

[identity profile] rockwell-666.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be there!

Put me down for sleeping in the office and reserve me a sleeping bag :-)

To those of you who haven't been to one of these before, give it a go!

You get to play lots of fun (or silly, or fun and silly) games, some are very intellectual, some are just good for a laugh, but there's always going to be something to try and the more the merrier.

Judith: Why not post one of the lists of the games that got played at a previous Silvercon?

Because my wrists hurt... Suggest it to Richard.

Ah, sorry, I thought you had them in a file that you could just cut-and-paste.

Never mind, let's just say it was *lots* of games :-)

I can actually do that weekend! I'm coming home to set up my new computer with dad, so hopefully I'll be able to escape for a few hours at some point. But you don't need to worry about feeding me and it might be a case of expect me if you see me, depending on how it goes.
