Some bastard nicked our strawberries!

We've been having a crop of the most fantastic flavoured, fully organic, fresh from the plot, strawberries.

I went down to pick some more today and they were almost all gone.  At first glance, I couldn't see any at all - only those well hidden under leaves had survived.  I picked a grand total of six. Even the partially ripe ones were gone.

This was more than someone having a quick snack. I'd say the equivalent of at least a couple of punnets was taken.  Someone took those to sell - why else take all the half-green ones as well?  (they'll ripen away from the plant, though they will never taste quite as good as ones picked when they're fully ripe)

Bastards.

Let's hope they find half a bug in the first one they bite into. *evil cackle*

Can it be coincidence that Wimbledon has just started?

Small box containing one or two helpings of strawberries.

Let's hope they choke on them.

:-(

That's horrid. I hope they get stomach ache!

Damn. What complete and utter arseholes.

I was reading in the paper just a couple of days ago about a farm that used to do one of the "pick your own strawberries" thingies you see beside the road in the countryside but had to stop because of people taking the piss and eating so much before they came back with their takings. He even caught one lot having a picnic in the middle of his field, eating his strawberries. They'd brought cream, bowls, spoons etc and just sat down eating with no intention of paying for anything but the few they brought back to take away at the end.

Maybe they genuinely needed them more than you?

In which case, they can join the allotment queue and grow their own.

Given I've been on incapacity benefit for six months, and Richard's only just got a decent job after two months with no income at all, I'd fail to see how anyone could use that argument.

We were skint, so we chose to put in the hard work of growing our own food.

And given that the half-ripe ones were taken as well, the intent was clearly to sell some of them. I'd estimate the fruit taken would sell for between £10 and £20.

Well, I was just taken aback by the venom in the thread.

People do desperate things when they need to, and given a choice of thinking it was motivation by greed, or motivation by desperation, I know what'd make me rest easier at night.

Anger isn't very productive for me personally.

Anyone truly starving would have gone for the broad beans.

Far more protein, just as ripe, but don't sell for as much...

I'm afraid this one's a clear case of greed.

Lettuces, rocket and beetroot, all ready to pick, were also untouched.

Bastards. I hope they won´t do it again?
