Morena Solvak and Wimborne Folk Festival

It was an interesting experience hosting 7 dancers over the weekend, but we're using to large numbers of occasional visitors, so they fitted in pretty well.  Nice group of people with widely varying backgrounds.  They're all Slovakians living and working in London and got to know one another more or less by chance.  I had some very interesting conversations with them.

Here's a couple of photos taken by one of the dancers.

This was taken just outside Wimborne Minster.

Left to right, a local morris dancer, one of Morena Slovak, Richard (in festival collecting outfit), Henry (Likewise collecting), me (collecting outfit, but sans hat).  The basic principle of collecting is to be highly visible!

I may have mentioned hypermobility at some time in the past.  My son, Henry, is even more hypermobile than I am...

We saw them dancing! Unfortunately Katelyn wasn't too keen on the singing - doh! - but they were impressively bouncy and smiley :) My mum kept commenting on the men's tights LOL.

I think I may have spotted you at one point too, in purple with giant hat of doom?? Vast crowds made it hard to tell :)

I was partly in purple, but was wearing a straw sunhat (sort of a Vietnamese style)

The tights were pretty impressive!

Is your hypermobility painful?

Your mention of your family's hypermobility caught my eye, and I am hoping that you are not in pain from it - and I don't mean to be intrusive, but if you do have joint "issues" I want to mention the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation www.ednf.org which has information and message boards dealing with joint hypermobility issues that you might find useful. My best wishes to you all. Many blessings, Mags.

I don't think I suffer from that particualr condition. I just have unusually long tendons (or something like that). I don't dislocate, I don't have skin problems.

My only symptom is that I pull muscles very easily and I can bend my joints further than most people.

Well, I'm glad to hear that. My joints "float" and I easily sprain - no skin issues either though. Well, my best wishes to you - Mags.
