The birds are back again
I've been missing my garden birds for most of the summer. The seed feeders have hung there untouched and the garden has felt really empty.
temeres (who knows far more about birds than I do) said that they'd probably return w
hen the hot dry weather ended, and he was right.
The last few days have been a big change. I actually had to refill one of the feeders (when they were being used heavily last year, I was refilling them every few days) and the peanut feeder is being used after being ignored for six mont
hs (which is when we put it up).
We've got blue tits and great tits and sparrows (seven so far) and the starlings are back and a robin and I can even put up with the pidgeon.
Dish washing is so much more interesting when I can watch the birds while I work.

Fancy meeting you here
My dog won't let woodpigeons into the garden - I think he likes the noise they make when he makes them fly off - but we have goldfinches and what we thought was probably a pipit of some sort this year...
Re: Fancy meeting you here
Do you want to drop round next time we have a fannish gathering? There's a small group of local fans who congregate now and then to natter about B7 and Buffy and B5 and DS9 and whatever else takes our interest.
Did you search for other LJ people in the local area?
Did you know Graeme emigrated to Canada? He and Dee live in Toronto now.
Re: Fancy meeting you here
I'd dearly love to drop round - I've acquired many internet friends over the last two years, but no local ones whatever, or at least not fannish ones. I did attempt a local LJ search but apparently only paid accounts are allowed to do that, which in our case we have not got...
I knew Graeme was married but I'm pretty sure I didn't know about Canada - a couple of my LJ friends are in Toronto... say hi for me next time you talk/write or anything, yes?
Best love to R, K and H...
Re: Fancy meeting you here
How did you find me without a search? We don't have any LJ friends in common.
Re: Fancy meeting you here
Will ring soon - is the number still the same?
Frell me dead, that was seventeen years ago... !
Re: Fancy meeting you here
I guess it must be seventeen years.
Henry's grown a wee bit since then...
Re: Fancy meeting you here
I'm both blown away at the thought of meeting up again, and a little ashamed of the ghastly mess I've made of the intervening years, but I'll tell you all that when I see you... it may take a few days on account of I just inherited another dog who can't really be left alone at home yet. But I'll ring tomorrow.
