I've known for years that air fresheners give me asthma...

It's nice to know research has caught up!

Air fresheners, strong perfume, deoderants, after-shave, many cleaning products, all can leave me wheezy and in the worse cases provoke a severe asthma attack.  I stopped working on the counter in our local Oxfam shop when the manager refused to remove the air freshener.

There are several shops that I'm unable to go into because of the scents they use.

Pretty much confirms for adults what had been seen with children at ALSPAC in 2004 (about twice the sample size, but more geographically restricted.) I think both pieces of research are more to do with the development of asthma than the aggravation of symptoms in individuals.

I'm not a great fan of air 'freshener'. Not only is the stuff orrible to breathe, but it often smells worse and lingers more than the original whiff!
