Real life math mistakes...

[personal profile] steverogersonjust sent me this link.  football maths

He knows I find things like this useful to give to my math pupils.

If anyone else has any examples of real life crap mathematics, please feel free to share.  It's wonderfully educational to give the pupils real world examples to tear apart.  Spotting other people's mistakes helps to keep them cynical and alert - as well as feeling good when they work it out!

However, I much prefer the English abbreviation "maths" to the American abbreviation "math", which you appear to be using.

Yes, it's a plural noun, translated from the Greek - ta mathematika (neuter plural).
