Thoroughly enjoyed it. 

I liked John Sims in 'Life on Mars' and thus hadn't really expected to like him as the Master, but in fact, he's brilliant!  (I underestimated his rage as an actor.  The Master is very different from Sam Tyler)

And, by golly, it's slashy!

But he didn't make me think of The Master either. In menace he is Draco Malfoy to the previous Voldemort incarnations.

I don't subscribe to the "more dangerous if bonkers" theory - even in fiction. In real life, Hitler and Stalin and Mao and Ghengis Khan and so on were not bonkers. Rasputin was bonkers, but that made him, if anything, less of a threat.

In fiction, Sauron and Darth Vader are not bonkers...

It's really impossible not to slash the last two episodes. Doctor/Jack, Master/Doctor...RTD is probably horrifying parents in their thousands :-))
