British weather
There are days when I hate my job.
Standing outside in May shouldn't be too bad, except when you're standing on the edge of an open field with no windbreak and only a polo-neck, a t-shirt, a jumper, two sweat-shirts and an anorak to keep you warm.... Oh, and a scarf.
It wasn't the temperature and the occasional shower so much as the wind-chill.
I've been home several hours and I've just about thawed out, but I feel stiff all over and my shoulder's sore, just from tensing up so much in the cold.
It almost makes me wish I lived in Australia, but not quite. I have to say that, otherwise
kerravonsen will point out the obvious .
Still, I had a nice chat with the lady from the RSPB and got to look at all sorts of nice plants that I can't currently afford (it was a garden festival type of event). And we did get three new members for the Dorset Wildlife Trust so it wasn't a totally wasted day. And I got to talk about marine wildlife to some interested children - I like telling them how to spot that sea urchins are related to starfish.
Back there again tomorrow - the forecast is supposed to be better...
