It rained once (a shower) in the whole of April. April is normally a wet month over here. We had to do a lot of watering and the soil was like dust on the surface. When you hoed the weeds, the soil tried to blow away. I've never seen it that bad before.
We've finally got rain too, and I am so relieved. I'm just waiting for the slugs... We've just ordered some nematodes. They're expensive and probably not worth it for a farm, but I'd rather use those on the allotment than slug pellets as they don't harm thrushes and other wildlife.
