Voting

In the local electiion, I'll probably be voting for the candidates rather than a specific party, but I wonder if I'll be voting Conservative in the next general election.  If I do, it will be the first time since I was a teenager (they broke the electoral promise that had induced me to vote for them).

Conservatives and CO2 concentrations
The question is, have they got the guts to turn that awareness of the climate change risk into firm policy?  IF their policy is a waffle one, they won't get my vote, but if they can come up with a clear plan of action then I'll go for it.

No, they haven't.

(1) They are Conservatives and therefore liars, and

(2) they are Conservatives and therefore liars.

If you want Green policies in place, vote Green or Lib-Dem.

It would be nice to be able to vote for anyone but I made the mistake of registering on line and not checking that it had taken and it hadn't. Something I only found out when my voting card failed to turn up when the rest of my familly's did. How ever if I were voting I would probably vote Lib/Dem for the lot at Cardiff Bay and independant for local if there was one, Green if not. as[livejournal.com profile] lexin says they are probably the only ones who would vote green policies in.

I've always voted LIb Dem in the past, mainly for environmental reasons. We don't always get a green candidate, but I vote for them when I can (unless the candidate is a total pratt as happened once).

If we had STV, I'd be able to vote a lot more sensibly.

We've got STV and its very exciting - me and Iain are standing in Sighthill/Gorgie (Joanna) Pentland Hills (Iain) we've not had libdem councillors in both of these areas before - well we'll find out may 5th! A good friend of ours have been working on our green policies for years, if you ever want some policy docs then just email me and I'll get some for you.

Like you I once as a young man (don't ask when that was) voted Conservative. I never have since. Here in Herefordshire we have had a Conservative/Independent administration which has often sat behind closed doors and made decisions that have gone against general opinion, a refuse plant for autoclaving waste down narrow B roads, one way system changed about suddenly etc. It looks likely I will be voting Lib Dem this time.

If i had the choice i'd vote for the LDP - they seem pretty sensible and have policies i agree with.

Unfortunately, i can't vote this time because i forgot to sign my postal vote application. Yeh, i did feel stupid when i opened the envelope. And there's no way i'm traipsing up country when i have two assignments to finish. So i suppose i can't complain whoever wins.

I have the chance to vote Tommy Sheridan back in.

Can't think of an easier decision to make :D

Just got to pick one of the other 5 now.

Where I am (West Berkshire), it's usually a two-horse race between the Tories and the Lib Dems (often with no other candidates). If there is a Green on the ballot tomorrow (which I very much doubt), I'll vote for them; otherwise I am quite tempted to spoil my paper, as I am disillusioned with both parties at a local level.

(I was just passing as they say - a common interest in Flanders and Swann, and a few friends in common - an interesting journal and I am adding you to my friends list. You're welcome to friend me back, but under no obligation).

We actually have very good people at a local level, but I get a lot more disillusioned at national level. Give me a Green candidate and I'll be a happy bunny! (Heck, if I had just a bit more energy, I'd join the party and stand myself. Realistically, I know I wouldn't be able to cope with the stress)

Music comes and goes, but Flanders and Swann are eternal.
