Gardening is good for you

This article is really telling me what I know already - being outdoors and exercising in any way at all does wonders for my stress levels.  Apparantly it helps the health in more ways than one.

People stick longer at outdoor forms of exercise and are less likely to give up after a few attemps.  Volunteering in the outdoors gives social benefits as well as physical ones.

The best kind of exercise is the kind that you actually do :) Indoor exercise can get pretty dull, after all. Being outside and seeing a bit of nature is much more rewarding.

Unintended benefits of outside gardening.

I had posted about our square-foot gardening attempt -- let's just say we found out what happens when puppies discover lovely new planted things at beckoning heights. My son's Beagleman (half Beagle, half Doberman, 100% turbo charged) decided we really should spread all those nice plants around the yard. Definitely good exercise in his wake.

We're now doing container gardening and limiting our crop. lol

I suspect that fencing may be the only solution to puppies! Hopefully he'll be a bit more sober next year and you can try again.

Raised bed systems have a lot going for them - the lack of soil compaction leads to good yields and can reduce cross-infection.

more seeds?

Just been catching up on several weeks of your gardening tales. I have some tomato (baby plum) and green bean (fagioloi something, Italian) seeds - would you like them? Best to call if you do, as I don't check LJ.
