Catching up after Contemplation
I'm slowly clearing out the email backlog that built up while I was at Contemplation and recovering from the bug afterwards.
Loads of convention work, but it's gradually progressing. Email backlog is now below 60, which is a definite improvement over 120. It's when it gets below 40 that it starts getting really hard to trim down as by then every email remaining requires me to take non-trivial actions to deal with it.
The allotment progresses well. We went down this morning and Richard erected the poles for the runner beans, put the bottom on the gate and planted the maincrop potatoes that Rosemary gave us. (she thinks they are either Epicure or Cara).
I cleared out the remainder of the raspberry bed by removing weeds and brambles (I seem to have developed an instant ability to tell a small bramble from a small raspberry - something to do with the growth habit and leaf colour) and replanting the raspberrys that had been disturbed when the last plot-holder removed most of them to grow elsewhere. I don't expect any fruit this year from that bed, but some of the suckers look quite healthy and I should get fruit next year if I treat them well now.
We watered a whole host of things and refilled the water tank.
What I want to know is where all the slugs are...
Rosemary gave us some spare lettuces and we planted them out and watered them and they are settling in and starting to grow. This is not natural. I know what happens when you plant out lettuces - the slugs eat them.
Not even a nibble. I know the weather has been incredibly dry, but even so!
