Dr Who

I enjoyed this one.  It wasn't overly clever or erudite, but the chase scenes were entertaining -- and speaking as someone who normally hates chase scenes -- that's quite a recommendation.

I really like the new companion.  She is well educated, she's intelligent, she works things out logically and she keeps her head in a crisis.

And I forgive it all the scientific inaccuracies for the wonderful scene where we view Earth from the moon.  That is the kind of scene that defines science fiction to me.  It's an "sense of wonder" scene.  It shows the incredible beauty of what is out there, and I loved Martha's reaction to it.

If that view of the Earth inspires just one person to go and study science as a result...

I don't expect good science from Doctor Who, that's not what it's about.  Doctor Who is about the wonders of space, aliens with powers that don't really make sense, a healthy dollop of humour, and people running screaming from monsters.  Amazingly, the combination frequently works.

Oh yes! That has got to be one of my favourite bits.
