Primeval

This surprised me by being a lot better than I'd expected. The characters all seem to be acting intelligently and actually sound like they really are experts in their field. (Can they avoid the usual problems of all scientists gaining tehcnobabble skills in twenty different fields?)

The military character was intelligent too. I was impressed by his method of getting the obsessed scientist to return with him - showed an understanding of psychology.

The CGI is excellent. I was particularly impressed with the dinosaur treading on things as it went down a corridor. (though there was one point when the scale felt slightly wrong)

This has the potential to come out a little bit like Stargate - I wonder if they can keep the character specialities relevant to the storyline? I hope so. It would be nice to see biology skills made use of for once.

If you didn't see it, it may be worth trying to download the first episode as I don't think there's a repeat.

It looks as if the Saturday episode is repeated Sunday. It finishes at 5-30.

I completely forgot that it was on! May try to catch it next week, though I do suffer from the slight disadvantage of knowing a bit about biology, which never seems to bode well with these things.... ;)

We enjoyed it, there's plenty of space for the characters to build into. I liked the student who expected the academic to know who he was, when he'd never bothered to come to a single seminar - very realistic!

The CGI people are the Walking With Dinosaurs brigade, so we did expect that to be good.

I'm not sure how the missing wife thing is going to work out, it seemed like a hook for a story arc that could actually get in the way a fair bit.

There is a website for the show at primeval.itv.com (http://primeval.itv.com/).

I had the same thought about SG1...

I am actually looking forward to next week's episode, on the basis that this one was better than the whole of Torchwood and than most (though not all, I hasten to add) of the new Who.

I enjoyed it as it was 'parent safe' for my visitors this weekend. (Accidentally showed them 'Thank You for Smoking' having forgotten all the sex scenes!!) and it felt a bit like watching Dr Who for slightly older people.

You'll have to say 'hi' to me at Redemption as I don't have a name/face to go with the LJ ID, though I'm assuming that I probably already know you in real life.

I see you're just starting on Babylon 5. You've some really good stuff to come. (You can judge the value the Centari place on Babylon 5 by the fact that they sent Londo as their ambassador...)

I'm Emma Peel, who you probably know from the 'I, Mutoid' fanzine :-) I have been skint and not conventioning as much of late!
