Wildlife gardening

I was feeling in a good mood this morning, so I cycled down to the Dorset Wildlife Trust's new urban wildlife centre at Beacon Hill and asked how I could help.

I ended up surveying the area where they'd like to have a wildlife garden. I'm hoping to cost out what the main features will cost and work out what is needed. It'll be hard work as the area is mainly hardcore for car parking at present...

Unfortunatly, while digging a test hole to find out how deep the hardcore went (a good six inches in the place I tested), I did something to my back and it's been pretty painful ever since. I can't sit upright for long - a real pain as I'm reading several good books at present. I can't spend long at the computer either, which is also a pain as I want to learn how to draw using Powerpoint so that I can make a map of the area I measured out this morning.

Oh, I'm very sorry to hear about your back. I hope it heals speedily. I've found that the heat-releasing patches are a real boon for increasing mobility, if your injury is predominantly muscular.

A Powerpoint users note. Have you found Microsoft's Online Clip Art Gallery? It is a superb resource for clips of all shapes and sizes.

You access it through Insert>Pictures>Clip Art>Clips Online

Hope the back heals up quickly x

Sorry to hear about your back - sounds painful.

I daresay you know, but just in case you haven't heard, there is £4 million available from the lottery fund (in smallish amounts) being doled out to suitable causes which involve wildlife. It was reported in "Autumn Watch" back in October (details available here)and perhaps the wildlife garden you are planning might qualify. Can't hurt to ask.

And I hope your back heals well and soon.
