Everybody loves a wedding

It may sound crazy, but I actually have something to look forward to. I phoned David (Rosalie's partner) to pass on some useful information [livejournal.com profile] lexin and [livejournal.com profile] grumpoldusenaut had given me and he told me that he and Rosalie had decided to get married (which apart from any romantic consideration will improve his position re benefits significantly, as widdowers can claim allowances for children that unmarried bereft fathers don't qualify for).

He actually sounded happy, and he said Rosalie was in good spirits too.

He's an amazing man. He has an incredible ability to remain unfazed through the worst of events. (though it's possible he's able to keep going while Rosalie is alive, and will crack under the strain once she's gone) One thing I am totally confident of though: his sons have a father who will give them all the love that they need. I've seen him with his boys - he's a man who really relates well to children. They may be losing a mother, but they couldn't have a better dad.

I'm assuming weddings can be arranged quickly if there is desperate need for haste. I certainly hope so.

Yes, AFAIR they can be done very fast indeed. I think he needs to contact the local registry office and explain the circumstances - but you'll have realised that already.

Certainly the Church of England has arrangements for this, although I don't know the details - the hospital chaplain might be able to help. *Anyone* in England and Wales has the right to use the services of the state church...

And as lexin says, the registrar's office should be able to help with an emergency civil ceremony. One or the other should be able to sort it out.
