missing carols
My voice has improved a lot in the last few weeks (which may or may not be connected with the steroid tablets I took for the asthma attacks), so much so that I decided to go down the local folk club and sing some carols.
I got down the pub, only to discover that they've moved to a different pub in Colehill.
Gloom.
I can walk to the one they used to use, but Colehill requires the car and I really, really, don't like driving.
I really fancied a good sing. I've rather lost touch with the folkie side of my life in the last two years - partly the voice being bad and partly the demise of Sidmouth Folk Festival.
I've always loved carols. I stopped singing them when I was in my militant athiest phase in my late teens/early twenties, now, I can love them for their own right and interpret their meaning in my own way.
Nowadays, I find I can appreciate Christianity in the way I appreciate several other religions, as something with its own beauty and meaning. I can appreciate the symbols of a faith, whether they be the Christ child or the Green Man.
I really want a chance to sing a few carols in company. If anyone feels like singing/playing music and wants an excuse to visit, don't hesitate...

1) I'd just had a new kitchen built
2) I was really enjoying singing classes and a wonderfully creative choir.
The choir started off as "singing in the garden shed" so that left us with no inhibitions as to what to try next.
{sigh} I do miss fun singing.
