Experimenting with live journal
LJ tends not to like my dear old Acorn on occasion, so we connected up Richard's
lap-top to see what we could play with on the paid account features. (and he got
to do the typing - smile.)
I'm trying this as an e-mail post as it's surprising how many times Lj dies on
me when I'm posting directly (I've learnt to put any moderately long posts as a
file and upload the file - otherwise I can't face retyping them)
I think I've managed to set up two friends groups - a small one for when the
shoulder is bad, and a larger one for when I want to read more people.
I finally manged to get the best friends meme to work on a different machine.
kerravonsen is my best friend with 12 interests in common, closely
followed by
dougs,
the_magician and
yonmei with 10 each. I guess it's not surprising that I'd already
included them all in my smaller friends group. There was actually a strength of
correlation that surprised even me. All my friends with more than 4 interests
in common were people I'd put in the smaller group. All those with 4 or less
were in the larger group.
I also did some searching to see if there are any LJ users in Dorset with
similar interests. It's a pity you can't search on all interests, but even
searching on just a couple of single interests brought up a couple of
potentially interesting people. I may even try contacting one or two.

Speaking of paid account features, I'm working on a Blake mood theme. Setting one up is a pain in the carpal tunnels, though, but just wanted to give you a note in case you can make Richard set it up instead;).

The "email" option of a paid account is almost enough to tempt me to get one...
